I recently heard a quote that I think is very appropriate at times...

This leads me to the following statement:
Social Media is bigger than one person. -James Ryan
I believe this to be true because social media reaches far beyond the individual and begins the creation of synergistic ideas, beliefs, thoughts and actions. Through connecting with others we can move mountains and solve social problems and help determine history. The slogan, "Yes We Can!" comes to mind. The 2008 Obama presidential campain used the power of social media to garner support, raise funds and disseminate information about progress and issues. When ever two or more people are engaged (not in the marital sense) with each other the outcome is normally greater that what the two could do individually. This combined effect will only come into question in the instance of total anarchy or the extinction of the human race. I guess if we all became zombies too.

I believe too much and agree to Mr. James Ryan that Social media is definitely a collaborative place, where people meet each other, exchange ideas, exchange their happy moments, share their thoughts, express their gratitude or feeling and eventually make themselves so happy within themselves. Many companies do their marketing using many different social media websites. This is a platform to stay in contact with friends & families. The videos that Mr. Ryan has posted are relevant to the fact that social media can be used to reach to many hands at a same time.
ReplyDeleteSocial Media is now playing a huge role in politics. Constituents are providing feedback in real time, and some candidates are using it to their advantage. Good call, and I love the video on Ontario politics.
ReplyDeleteJames, I agree wholeheartedly. I think that the sooner companies realize the advantage of collaborative thought and development the better off they will be. I think that as the world continues to "shrink" with the increase of interconnectedness this will only become more apparent over time.
ReplyDeleteAnother great example of this idea is cloud computing and what it can bring to business as a way to level the playing field between larger companies and smaller start ups.
